Actual track workout

My plan for today called for 6 x 1K intervals, and I really didn't feel like doing them on the treadmill. Nice enough day outside, so I talked running buddy Amber into a Team Library Dork track session at the UNR stadium. There had been a football game yesterday, so it was a TOTAL mess - Student cleaners came and started roving the bleachers while we were there. Actually, for a while they were standing on the track getting organized, and we had to weave through them a few times. They were pretty cool about it, though.

I wasn't sure how it was going to go, doing intervals without the benefit of treadmill pacing. I was supposed to do them between 4:10 and 4:20 per kilometer, and I figured that was right around the 6:50/mile pace range. I just tried to keep the Garmin about there or a little below, and it seems to have worked out OK. My splits slowed a little, and the second to last one was just above 4:20, but I brought it back under on the last. I did have some confusion with the lap and start/stop button at the start of the first lap, so I only have data for 5, but I'm sure I did my first one just fine...

Pretty cool graph, too. I took the elevation data out, since it was all on the track (aside from the warmup jog over from where we parked.

That made for a cool picture, around and around the track. :) Thanks so much for inviting me out for a run this morning- even if I couldn't keep up with your intervals, I had a good solid run, despite the smell of draining Sanihuts...
