Wild West Half Marathon/10K this Sunday

This race just barely popped up on my radar - I wouldn't have seen it at all if I hadn't been looking around at other running blogs, and noticed that ultrarunner Jean Pommier mentioned he would be doing a half at Donner this weekend. Had to google a bit to figure out which one it was. The Wild West Half Marathon and 10K looks like my kind of race - smallish, local and in a beautiful place. (I love that for more info, you call Big Al or Maria.) Pretty inexpensive, too - $25 pre-race or $30 race day, for either distance. I hope I can make it up there - my parents will be in town this weekend, and I'm not sure of the schedule. Hope some of you out there can, at least!

Oooooo! Definately putting this one on my calendar! Hopefully my knee and back will cooperate... You in? If so, we should carpool. And call Gretchen. :)

this HALF was my first race back after the break last summer. not too organized (don't miss the little cones marking both 180s) but awesome trails and elevation!

Hi there, Just checked this site yesterday & it said that the 2010 event is canceled=( Wonder why? Thought I'd let you guys know before driving up the hill!

I think that is a different race - the "Wildest Run in the West." http://www.wildestrun.com/ This one is still accepting registrations at the link in the post...

That is the same site I'm looking at. Do you see the middle, top of the page where is says **Event Canceled**. It also says the same thing at the top when you click on registration. Maybe they are just talking about the 100K distance, but they don't explain that. Not sure, sorry if I'm being silly or I'm confused. GREAT BLOG, by the way! ~Shani

Thanks! Sorry I was unclear in that last comment - here's the website of the race that, as far as I can tell, is still on: http://www.allsportcentral.com/eventInfo.cfm?eventID=23172

That's the link that was back in the body of the original blog post, not the one from the comments...

Now I get it! Thanks for clearing that up for me, I should have used your first link (I had never been to that site). Pretty confusing, 2 different races, in the same area with very similar names only 1 day apart. My husband might want to do it, what a deal! We'll see you there if we end up making it.

Cool, would love to say hi!

I have a feeling this race was kind of thrown together to make up for the fact that the other one was cancelled. That's just conjecture, but it might make sense...
